- The energy certificate identifies for the housing association possible measures to improve its energy efficiency, as well as a benchmark with other housing associations for the prospective buyer of the housing unit.
- An energy certificate is also one of the conditions for granting an energy grant, as the certificate verifies changes in the property's energy efficiency.
- The information obtained from the energy certificate can be used as a basis for the housing association's repair plans. The certificate is valid for 10 years and must be renewed before the previous certificate expires.
- Content of the energy certificate:
- Basic information of the building: name, address, building code, year of building completion and purpose of use;
- E-number, Energy efficiency class A-H on the classification scale;
- Basis for calculations, including information about the house's structures and their properties, as well as the type of heating.
- Realized energy consumption (if available).
- The amount of purchased energy with the energy type factor taken into account.
- The information and qualifications of the person preparing the energy certificate, as well as the date of preparation and the period of validity.
- Proposals for measures and their calculated effect on the E-number.

- Consultant has energy certificate issuer qualification which is shown as valid in ARA registry
